    Three carriers of the  Japanese strike force withdrew to Japan for refit and replacement of damaged and worn aircraft, and pilots. Akagi had her bow inspected.

    Thanks for posting this information. It is an incredible story. Had the Japanese succeeded in their efforts, they could have controlled the Indian Ocean and all of the resources of the lands adjoining it.
