Intermission – Tamiya Focke Wulf Fw 190D 9

Updated 15 August 2021

My grandson was spending the day with his grandfather yesterday so I had no time to paint anything. However Inch High Guy is starting new builds.

He got me reflecting again on my collection.

My first encounter with the Fw 190 D was in 1960 while reading Le Grand Cirque written in 1948 by Pierre Clostermann.

There was an image I still vividly recall, well almost.

I thought it was this one found on Wikipedia.

I was wrong.

Here’s what’s inside the book.

This recollection led me to buy this model kit before the pandemic.

I remember building Fujimi’s 1/48 scale Fw 190 D in the 70s.

Some reviews can be found on the Internet.

I know I should start building this model instead but I know it won’t be a piece of cake.

Intermission – I got mail!

I have restarted building my now “infamous” Airfix Spitfire Mk Vb. I have reconciled with it yesterday morning using clothespins to glue the top left wing to the bottom left. Then the top right wing to the bottom right.

There is no need for any more acrimony on my part. I have decided to soldier on with that build although I keep shaking my head with some issues, mainly the main landing gear.

So what’s new on My Forgotten III?

I got mail yesterday afternoon…

I am so glad I had this impulse buying last month, and I just can’t wait for the mailman’s next delivery.

After these three, I still have a few more just waiting to leave by plane from Austria.
